I assume it's because my VRAM isn't filled anymore, since it had no buffer left for anything else. If I use High textures it uses about 2.0-3.5 GB and the loading screens are significantly shorter and the tiny freezes when pressing play and some menu buttons are gone. For me, using Ultra textures always capped out my 980 at 4096/4096 MB which causes the long loading screens and a few tiny freezes when pressing "play" and some menu buttons. You can use MSI Afterburner to check your memory usage. So the optimal way to use this setting is by using a texture quality setting that does not max out your GPUs VRAM. If it maxes out your VRAM you sometimes start getting little stutters when you press something on the menu that hasn't been loaded into the VRAM yet, it also increases your loading screen time significantly since it fills up your GPUs memory during the loading screen. At that point any additional VRAM doesn't do anything. I think the way it works is that the more VRAM you have, the more of a performance increase you get out of it, until you have so much VRAM that the setting does not cap out your VRAM. Also when you press play in the lobby and the game puts you in the map it locks up the screen for a second. You can see your video memory usage go up until a certain point during a loading screen. Most likely because it's loading all the textures into the video memory. However, on Ultra textures it does increase my loading times of Evacuation Solo (the map I tested for this several times) consistently from about 5-6 seconds to 13-14 seconds.

Even though it increases your FPS, it does not increase GPU usage at all and therefore does not increase the temperature. This effect is normally pretty ugly, so that's nice.ģ. It removes the effect of blobby blurry textures turning to high definition textures. I did several tests, it's consistently higher.Ģ. In the lobby and in the actual game the FPS was about 5% higher. It completely caps my GTX 980 at 4096/4096 MB VRAM usage with Ultra textures, but only 2.0-3.5 GB (really random) on High textures.ġ. Basically what it does is load as many textures as it can into your video card memory. I did some tests with -notexturestreaming with a GTX 980 with 4 GB of VRAM. LIST OF AVAILABLE PARAMETERS (as mentioned): This thread could jump start into an entire list of all it's available options to make it easier for the user to do their tweaking. -notexturestreaming (prevents stuttering > useful for high-end cards, which disables bUseTextureStreaming).-nostartupmovies (skips intro and enters you straight to menu).ini files instead, doing the same tweaking with simple -parameters via Steam's AdvancedOptions input. Ultimately leaving you without the hassle of editing. The good thing about using Steam's AdvancedOption -parameters is that you don't have to edit any config-files as it's already complementary to the game's (advanced) options directly.

Don't have to edit any configuration files. So, my question is where can I find all of Killing Floor 2's Advanced Options? BENEFITS As far as I'm aware, every game within steam has an Advanced Options setting where users have the ability to provide -parameters to modify how the game would behave.
